*Your first option will be to drive here to our kennel and pick up your puppy in person.
*Your second option is to fly to Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City OK (approximately 1 hour from our kennel) pick up your puppy and hand carry it onboard the aircraft on your return flight back home.
When flying to pick up your puppy, your chosen airline will charge you a fee of approximately $125 (depending on the airline) to hand carry your puppy onboard. You will need an airline-approved soft-sided travel carrier. These are typically a small nylon mesh bag with a zip-around top. They come in various sizes, but you will need to check with your chosen airline for specific dimensions and size required for an 8-week old puppy which will weigh approximately 8-10 lbs.
Most clients opt to schedule their flights ensuring a few hours’ layover, e.g. arrive late morning with an afternoon departure.
We will meet you at the airport with your puppy, provide you with a health certificate and shot record, take a few photos and see you off on your way for your return flight back home.
*Your third option is ground transportation where your puppy is picked up from our kennel and driven to your home! This typically costs $500-$1000 depending on distance.
Ideally, we schedule our puppy pickups as close as possible to the day they reach 8 weeks old, keeping in mind that most clients prefer picking up their puppy on Saturdays. Puppies are normally weaned from their mothers when around 4 weeks old. By then, they are eating softened puppy kibble.
Date and time of pickup will be coordinated to accommodate your personal desires. When you pick up your puppy, it will have received its’ first 2 series of vaccinations and will have been dewormed. You will receive a packet containing your puppy’s ABKC registration application, health certificate and your puppies belongings. In addition, you will also receive a detailed briefing concerning the welfare and care of your puppy.
At 12 weeks old, you should take your puppy to your personal veterinarian for its’ 3rd series of vaccinations and possible worming. The shot record will provide your veterinarian with the date it received its’ vaccinations, the type and amount of vaccination administered, type and amount of worming. In fact, Ashley applies the labels from the actual vaccine vials onto your puppy’s shot record for your veterinarian’s review.
